I recently became the mother to a wonderful baby boy named William -- born March 5th, 2014. I already had one child (Samantha - almost 3 years old). Let's just say the new addition has tripled my work load! Not only do I have Samantha going through the terrible 2 (and 3) stage, but now I've got a needy newborn to boot. I also have a Type A personality, which means that I like my house clean and hate clutter. I took Samantha out of daycare two weeks ago -- my life right now is chaos (or at least it feels that way).
This blog will be used to rant about how difficult it is to be a parent to two kiddos. I will also talk about the assistant professor life (oh... did I mention that?!) and how the two fit together. I am up for tenure this year. Oh boy! Given all of my experiences with parenting, being a female faculty member in a male dominated field, and doing the two at the same time in Houston, Texas, I plan to use this space to rant -- feel free to read on if any of these relate to you.
